چکیده
Background/Objective Propolis, a resinous substance collected by honeybees from origin plants to protect their beehive, has been reported have various biological activities and gained popularity as an alternative medicine in recent years. We previously the plant origin, chemical composition some of native Thailand stingless bee propolis. In this study, we further elucidated its active components mode action. Methods/Results Among nine prenylated xanthones isolated propolis, α-mangostin γ-mangostin were shown strongly inhibit tube formation human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), indication antiangiogenic activity vitro. Further investigation effects at molecular level revealed that both mangostins inactivated extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) activated p38 tube-forming HUVECs concentration-dependent manner. Taken together, two angiogenesis vitro inactivating angiogenic signal ERK1/2 activating stress p38. Detailed comparison seemed slightly stronger effect than these experiments. Combined with fact being most abundant component among tested, might be responsible for Conclusion These results indicate propolis may good candidate future applications prevention angiogenesis-related diseases.

Objective: Propolis is a mixture of plant resins and bee secretions. This study is to evaluate the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of stingless bee propolis (Tetragonulairidipennis), rearedfromPudukottai region of Tamilnadu, India and also to determine the total phenol and total flavonoid contents of the sample responsible for these properties. Methods: Stingless bee propolis was extract...
متن کاملAnticancer Activity of Indian Stingless Bee Propolis: An In Vitro Study
Indian stingless bee propolis has a complex chemical nature and is reported to possess various medicinal properties. In the present study, anticancer activity of the ethanolic extract of propolis (EEP) was explored by testing the cytotoxic and apoptotic effect in four different cancer cell lines, namely, MCF-7 (human breast cancer), HT-29 (human colon adenocarcinoma), Caco-2 (human epithelial c...

We examined the antibacterial activities of several types of propolis, including Africanized honey bee green propolis and propolis produced by meliponini bees. The antibacterial activity of green propolis against Micrococcus luteus and Staphylococcus aureus was superior to that of Melipona quadrifasciata and Scaptotrigona sp propolis. Only two samples of propolis (green propolis and Scaptotrigo...

Propolis from stingless bees Tetragonisca fiebrigi found in Brazil is used in folk medicine by their nutritional and therapeutic properties. However, there are no scientific records evidencing such properties. The present study was designed to investigate the chemical composition and the biological properties of propolis from T. fiebrigi. For this, the chemical composition of the ethanol extrac...
